Founder Story

Long before Chakra Rocks existed, my fascination with stones began with my female lineage.

My great-grandmother (Mama Carrie), worked as an AT&T switchboard operator during the Great Depression, and spent her life raising four children as a mostly single mom while saving whatever money she could. After her children were grown, she used those savings to travel the world in search of rare and beautiful stones. Her collection became something of a treasure chest of the earth’s natural wonders.

Her daughter, my grandmother (Patrechia Leora), carried that love forward. When I was young, she’d take me to gem and mineral shows, where I spent hours perusing crystals, fascinated by their colors, shapes, and endless varieties. I’ll never forget coming home one time from one of these shows with rings on every finger to which my grandma made it very clear - no matter how many boys with rings may come in the future, never forget, grandma did it first,

Then there was my mother (Linda Marie); lover of all things that sparkle. She also caught the gem, mineral and crystal bug, collecting stones over her lifetime, which she always insisted were for “us”, Perhaps saying that made her feel better about spending the money. Either way - it’s all good mom - I totally get it.

By the time I was a teenager, that inherited fascination had become very much my own. I spent countless hours in the Mountains and Deserts of Utah - searching for quartz and other minerals by day… and playing drums by the fire with friends for long hours into the night.   Those experiences connected me deeply to nature and its quiet reassuring energy…. Which looking back was just the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the earth, it’s natural elements, and it’s wondrously delicious and mysterious ways.

Around that same time I began exploring other interests that are still very much a part of my life today. I fell in love with meditation in my early twenties and have spent much of my life studying personal development, spirituality, consciousness, and the ways our inner world influences the way we experience our outer one.

I can even trace this curiosity to childhood influences I didn’t fully understand at the time. I was obsessed with the character Rainbow Brite, whose mission was to bring color, light, and happiness to the universe while protecting the world from darkness. Only years later did I realize her companions reflected the color spectrum of the seven chakras. Maybe that connection was coincidence. Maybe it was another tiny seed. Either way color, light, energy, and the idea that we can consciously bring more of them into the world has followed me for a very long time.

As I continued studying teachings from thinkers like Dr. Joe Dispenza, Dr. Bruce Lipton, Dr. Joe Vitale, and others studying consciousness, belief, human potential, and the connection between mind and body, something began to feel increasingly clear to me.

Ideas that spiritual traditions have spoken about for centuries are now being examined through psychology, neuroscience, biology, and emerging conversations around consciousness: that what we repeatedly think, feel, believe, and focus our attention on can profoundly influence how we experience our lives.

In other words, we are far more powerful than we’ve been taught to believe.

This is why Chakra Rocks was born… to help raise our collective vibration by serving as a reminder of that truth. It’s not just about jewelry…. It’s about living a life of purpose, on purpose.   It’s a small wearable anchor for the intentions you want to carry.  A reminder that while circumstances may shape us, our thoughts, intentions, and attention help determine the direction we move and ultimately our experience along the way.  Because sometimes it’s the little things that help us stay connected to our greatest potential.  

And like Rainbow Brite, who believed through color and light, she could stop darkness from taking over, I believe in you, and your ability to first be that light for you and as a natural bi-product of that intention, become a lantern for all.

Chakra Rocks, this website, and all the care woven into every small detail are dedicated to the eternal light of my female ancestors, and to honoring their lived example of love, strength, and resilience.

To the loving memory of three strong and beautiful women who unknowingly paved this path for me.

While I deeply miss their hugs and physical presence, I feel them closer than ever. Their spirit lives on in the seeds they planted long ago, in the woman I have become, and in every bead I carefully hand-select and intentionally craft with the love and gratitude I carry forward from all they taught me.

Until we meet again, may they continue to live on through my heart, through my hands, and through all that we continue to co-create.
